THE EUROPEAN UNION'S CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION PROGRAMME

The Operating Structures of both beneficiaries countries, the Ministry of Local-Self Government in the Republic of North Macedonia and Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Albania, as well as the Delegation of European Union in North Macedonia, will organize a consultation process with the purpose of gathering ideas for strategic projects under the cross-border cooperation (CBC) programme North Macedonia and Albania in the framework of the instrument of pre-accession assistance IPA 2014-2020. .

The identification of such strategic projects ideas would depend on whether the CBC beneficiaries could prove to have a genuine interest in addressing common strategic objectives, entailing a clear cross-border impact.

The eligible area of the Programme is the following:

  • in North Macedonia: the Regions of Pelagonia, Polog, Southwest,
  • in Albania: the Regions of Dibra, Elbasan, Korça.

The Programme welcomes potential applicants to submit their applications for strategic projects ideas until 01.08.2019, according to the instruction stated in the guidelines for applicants.

The consultation process for gathering ideas for strategic projects will be opened for the following thematic priorities of the Programme:

  • TP 1: Encouraging tourism, culture and natural heritage,
  • TP 2: Enhancing competitiveness, business, trade and investment and
  • TP 3: Protecting the environment, promoting climate change adaptation and mitigation, risk prevention and management. 

Please note that the Operating Structures of North Macedonia and Albania, Delegation of European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia and the Joint Technical Secretariat staff will organize 4 information sessions in Skopje, Tetovo, Tirana and Korçë, during June 2019, in order to provide detailed information and practical advice for preparation and submission of their application for strategic project ideas . In addition to this, 4 follow up session will be organized as well.
