The Minister of Local Self-Government Risto Penov discussed with the mayors of the municipalities of Krushevo and Krivogastani today the realization of the projects financed through the Program for balanced regional development, as well as the challenges that the municipalities face in the performance of their responsibilities.

At the meeting with the mayor of Krushevo, Tome Hristoski, they discussed the development potential of the municipality and the support from the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Regional Development Bureau in solving important, primarily communal and infrastructural issues that improve the quality of life and increase and the possibilities for the development of tourism. It was pointed out that in the last two years in the municipality of Krushevo, three projects were financed only from this budget program through which a part of the local road infrastructure was reconstructed, as well as the water supply infrastructure in the village. The mayor of Krivogastani municipality, Nikolce Miskoski, emphasized the need for financial support for projects for the reconstruction of local streets. Support was highlighted through the Program for balanced regional development, through which three projects were implemented in the previous two years, for waste management, for the improvement of the communal infrastructure and for the extension of streets and the construction of atmospheric sewage.

The Minister of Local Self-Government Risto Penov emphasized that the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Regional Development Bureau are making efforts to financially support all mature projects in the municipalities through the Program for Balanced Regional Development. In 2023 alone, we financed 135 projects for the development of planning regions, villages and specific areas.

- These are apparently small projects, but they have a great impact on the living conditions in the local areas, Penov pointed out. He informed the mayors that the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Regional Development Bureau, with the support of the donor community, have provided a fund for the preparation of technical documentation for municipal projects through which smaller municipalities can prepare technically mature projects that will be as competitive as possible in the selection process and providing sources for their financing. Through this fund, 70 projects have already been prepared, most of which are already being implemented, said Penov.
